Carnival 2017

Sophia's last carnival....we were on a mission to win the cake contest! We went with a theme cake...and I am happy to report that she won Best Carnival Themed Cake!! Success!!!

Here is a flashback to Sophia's first Carnival in Kindergarten!!! Time flies!!!

New Orleans 2017

We road tripped to New Orleans for Spring Break this year. It's close enough to drive (we did split it into 2 days) and we had never been before.

On the way we stopped in Beaumont for the night. We went to the semi-famous Gator Country. They have been on a lot of TV shows. Lots of gators! They put on a pretty good show!!!

In New Orleans we rented a house instead of staying in a hotel. A 3 bedroom house was much better than a 1 room hotel room!! The house was so cute and totally flipped. The neighborhood was a little sketchy, but the house was really nice.

Our first stop was the WWII Museum. There is SO much to see there!

Sophia, Joshua and I left the museum and took the trolley to the French Quarter.

 

The next day we met up with friends who were in NOLA too! We took a paddleboat tour down the Mississippi River to a historic battlefield.

We went to Café Du Monde a few times. The kids quickly fell in love with beignets!!! Delish!

One evening we took a Haunted walking tour around the French Quarter. It was really interesting. Our tour guide was really entertaining and had great stories. A few were spooky but all  them had a lot of historical information about the city.

We were super excited about our swamp tour!!! The morning we went was super cold. Most of the trip was cold!!! It was so cold that a lot of the animals were not out. We only saw one alligator, some raccoons and some wild hogs. But the swamp was beautiful!! The pictures don't do it any justice!!!

The last day in NOLA we went to the Zoo. They have a pretty big Zoo with lots to see. We loved watching the orangutans and gorillas.

They had some BIG alligators!!!

Overall we had a great trip. There is SO much to do in NOLA. The kids had a blast and we did too. We would all go back again!!

Garner Golf...

Jake was on the Garner Golf Team this year. There were 7 boys on the team. He loved playing and their team took 3rd in the tournament. He enjoys playing so I think he will continue!!!

Again....

 Here we go again!! You know what NOT to say as you leave the orthopedist??? When they tell you have a credit on your account...do NOT say "oh just leave it on our account. We'll be back at some point." Little did I know it would be two weeks later!!!! Sophia fell on the playground at school and buckle fractured her wrist. And of course it's her right wrist!!! 3 1/2 weeks in a cast!

Anne of Green Gables...

 Sophia's class did reports on their favorite books and then dressed up as one of the characters to present. They all had slide presentations and shared them with the parents that had come. I think Sophia's outfit turned out so cute! And she did an awesome job on her presentation!

Class pictures finally came home! Joshua does not look too happy in his picture. But he does love

his teacher, Ms. Taylor. They also have a full time assistant to help too!

 

Sophia has Mrs. Hildebrand this year. We ❤ her! Jake had her too. 

 

Business News...

I've been working on Sew Embellished. Working on some more structured work times....the non stop 'come

on by!!' was really wearing on me. And I also had always thought about a website. So February has brought those 2 big changes! 🎉
