Spring Break...again....

Brenda took some pics while we were at the ranch. It's such a pretty time of year and it was so green from all the rain!
My little rock thrower down at the river!
The front yard was filled with little yellow flowers....so pretty. And hard to get all 3 looking at the camera at the same time!

Opening Day of T-Ball

The AH Ball Fields are the place to be in the Spring!! Sophia is trying her hand at t-ball again. She took a few seasons off after soccer and I wondered if she would want to try team sports again. But, she was ready to try t-ball with a group from NPDS and Northwood. So far so good!!! She had a great time yesterday!

Goodbye 70's---Hello 21st Century!!!

In the 5 days while we were at the ranch...our kitchen went from this:
... to this!!! Mike has been working SO hard. It looks amazing! Our house has changed a lot in the past 3 months!!! Still work to be done and more cabinets and countertop to be ordered....but I love the changes!!! We have wanted to tear down walls and redo the kitchen since the day we moved in and it feels SO good to finally be doing it!!!

Spring Break at the Ranch....

Just FYI..these pictures are out of order....
We went to the ranch for 5 days over Spring Break so that Mike could have a big chunk of time to work on the kitchen. Brenda, Rylie and Chase came with us. More pictures to come soon...but we started our trip with a stop at Ikea. I had never been before....WOW!!! Such a fun place!! And the kids loved the cafeteria and "kids club". I thought these tray carts were genius!!!!
We stopped at The Salt Lick on the way home. Always good food!! And you know it's a good time when someone ends up on top of a table!!!
The Waco Zoo is really really good. Highlights included the slide through the otter exhibit....
and feeding day at the Reptile House. The kids were thrilled....I was not!
Tea parties with D.D.
Brenda's pictures will be posted soon!

Northwood Knights....

This is the second year that Jake has been on this basketball team. It's a great group of boys...about half are in Cub Scouts too. The coach has 3 boys of his own and is really good with the team. Jake will not get in and "fight" for the ball but he did an awesome job on defense and really listened and paid attention. We were very proud of how well he did!!

Class Pictures....

We couldn't have asked for better teachers this year for the big kids. Mrs. Collier has been SO good with Jake. And Mrs. Schlough, Sophia's teacher, is very patient and loving. It's so wonderful that both kids really really like thier teachers!!!

Rodeo Fun....

We got last minute tickets to the Rodeo. We hadn't planned on going but a friend had 5 tickets that she was not going to use, so I went ahead and bought them from her. The kids had a great time! It was "Extreme Bulls" day so they only had bull riding during the rodeo part. I was hoping we would be able to stay for part of the concert, but the kids were ready to walk around. The petting zoo was a big hit!!

A Good Deed...

Sophia is a Daisy Girl Scout (Daisy is the first step...Kinder and 1st grade girls). Every 2 weeks they meet and work on earning a new petal. Each petal has a theme. A few months ago they earned the "helping" petal and made these little signs that said "a Daisy was here." Sophia came out of that meeting very excited and for a few days kept telling me that she had to get up early and could I please stay in bed a bit longer. I forget what her first good deed was.
Fast forward to yesterday...she came out of our room saying something about "Daddy's clothes are hard to do. Wait until you go into your room." I had no clue what she was talking about. It was a busy afternoon and evening and it wasn't until after she went to bed that I found this "a Daisy was here" note. I almost cried!!! She had been in our room trying to put the folded laundry away!! So so sweet. And, I don't think this is the original note they made in Daisies, so she must have worked to make a new one.
Sophia can be such a little drama queen sometimes, but she has a heart of gold. She is always leaving notes for people and making little gifts. Such a sweet sweet little spirit!

Goodbye Yellow Laminate....

When we bought this house almost 5 years ago I told Mike "I will not move in with those countertops!" Well...I didn't win that battle. But, as of this weekend...the whole kitchen will be torn out and redone. I am SO excited!! It's hard to believe that when we get back from the ranch on Wednesday things will look drastically different!!! We are taking a HUGE step into the land of modern!!! This kitchen deal fell into our laps and we could not pass it up. So thankful that things worked out the way that they did...and that Mike is willing to work hard for the next 5 days (and a long time after that!) to make our house look better and better.
