Need a Baby Shower Gift??

How about this "package deal" from Sew Embellished?? 2 burp cloths, 1 initial onesie and a "shh...baby sleeping" pillow. All for $30. Now if it's a boy...there won't be nearly as much tulle involved!!! :)

What a Difference a Door Makes???

For almost 3 years we've lived with this door in our family room. I'm sure at one point...it was great. Now...it's just old, the stained glass is cracked....and it needed to go!!!!!!!!!
Mike never finished the trim around it because we knew one day we'd replace. Didn't realize it would take 3 years...but oh well!! Thanks to a great find on Craigslist....we have this fine new back door.
It makes a HUGE difference in the room. I love it!! It lets so much more light in. Now..Mike MUST finish the trim by May 21st at the latest. I'm hosting a baby shower here on May 22nd. And..this gives us incentive to spruce up the back patio...because now we can see the mess outside!!! But, it's a great improvement for the house. Thanks Craigslist...and my handy husband!!!

$7 Happiness...

Mike and I took a much needed get away trip this weekend to Fredricksburg. It was SO nice to be kid free for 48 hours!! My mom and Shirley took the kids to the ranch.

We stayed at this place: http://www.austinstreetretreat.com/ which I highly recommend. I thought it was wonderful!!!
While we were there, we did a lot of window shopping. I have many texts to myself trying to remember cute baby and kid sewing ideas.

Along the way I found this little $7 bag of happiness. I love it!! Anything made out of oil cloth just seems SO much cuter. Tomorrow Jake's class is taking a trip to the Zoo. My lunch bag will be the cutest one there!!! Who needs a brown paper sack when you can have something pink???

Big order...

I guess at some point I'll stop posting pictures of all the sewing. But, not today!!! I finished an order for 5 hooded towels, 10 burp cloths (2 to match each towel) and 1 pillowcase dress. Whew!! It was a lot of work!
The dress is for a 6 month old. I think it turned out really cute. And, I learned how to do a french seam...which is A LOT neater and more polished looking. There aren't any exposed/raw edges inside. So, until (or if), I ever get a serger, I guess I'll be doing french seams on dresses. They don't take much (if any) extra time and it makes the dress a lot more"finished"!!!

Need a New Look???

Try this one:And as you wear your new outfit...be sure to yell "booooooooot" every once in awhile!!

I Can Also Make This...

As I continue to add things to my sewing "I can make this" list...I'm also trying to add pictures. I make lots of stuff, but I also have to remember to take pictures of it. One day I might get a website or blog started for my sewing stuff.

I'm working on an order for 5 of these hooded towels and 2 matching burp cloths for each...all by Thursday night. Wow!! This picture needs a little work to be more "sell-able"....cute model but I'll make it a little more polished looking!I love this one...I took this fleece blanket that was just okay...made it WAY cuter just by adding the name. A great shower present!!!

Goggle buddies....

Goggles + bath time = lots of fun. Need I say more?? This picture takes me back to the one with Grant, Sophia and Jake. Wish I had that one on my computer so I could put up a side by side comparison!!

T-Ball...

Sophia had her first game today. I took a few pictures, but they turned out so-so. It's something with the zoom lens on my camera. They never turn out right.
Anyhow...here are a few. She had a great time and did well. Next time I'll try to get better pictures!

Sewing machine creations....

The sewing machine has been running lately. I finally got a big order finished for the mom of one of Sophia's friends. 3 dresses, 2 t-shirts, 11 sets of bows and 1 little 9 month outfit. First time I've made something that small. I love the little diaper cover!!!
In this order was also "the dress that never ends"...and has been my biggest lesson of SLOW DOWN while sewing to date so far.....but this dress is finished now. And it came out pretty cute.

My nephew turns 1 next week and his party is this weekend. I made him 4 bibs like this one. I love these bibs!! They're super easy to make...especially when you use hand towels. I know they turn out cuter when you use the flannel fabric, but the towels are so easy!!!!

My first real public appearance...if you can call it that...is tonight. I made 3 things for Sophia's school. They're having the annual Family Fun Night which includes a silent auction. I made a nap mat, hooded towel (no picture...darn!!) and a dress like "the dress that never ends." I'm hoping that I can make a little money for the school, but also pick up some business. My business cards and postcards will be out next to the items. So..we'll see how it goes.

Now one of these days I need to get Easter pictures posted!!!!

$2 Treasure....

Joshua and I took an early morning trip to WalMart today. And I came across these....for $2 each!!!Why did I buy 5???? Well...not totally sure. I thought they were so cool. And they're flexible!! I figured one for each kid...again...not sure what they can use them for but we always need more containers!! And I bought the 2 yellow ones for me.

A great find (in my opinion!!!).

Easter Fun at School...

Sophia's school had an egg hunt. I was sad that Jake's class didn't. I know, I know...it's a religious holiday. But, when I was teaching Kinder we always did one and the kids had so much fun.

Anyhow...I made the little bunny shirts and sold a few. It wasn't Sophia's regular day to go to school, so I had to bring Joshua along. He's the class mascot.

Sophia and Finola...from the "she used me as a Kleenex and I didn't like that" fame...for those of you that have heard the story.

Spring Program...

Sophia's school had a Spring Program last night...which was just each class getting up to sing a song or two. Still..they were all very cute. Sophia's class sang "I'm in the Lord's Army" and "Oh Be Careful....".

She was serious about getting ready to sing...up close and ready with the microphone!!!

And the seriousness continues....

Pay close attention to the little girl in the striped dress on the right. She was WAY into her singing. And the little one right next to Sophia kept pulling up her dress and showing her bloomers. I don't think it was on purpose though! Unlike Sophia and her striped dress friend who put on a show in the center aisle after the performance...pulling down their dresses and laughing. Now THAT was on purpose. We left with no cookies or lemonade and one screaming kid. Lots of fun!

What's wrong with this picture???

Look closely...can you tell? The tile is popping up. Happened last night...literally in a matter of hours. The lasting legacy of Rocky the Horrible Contractor lives on. It seems that they didn't use enough Thinset...and now it's coming up. So far it's about 3 tiles wide by 15 long. Could be more. Mike is in for A LOT of work to fix all this. I was scared to get up this morning and see if the whole floor had lifted. When will it end??? No one knows!!!
