Go Tigers!!!

Sophia had a soccer game this morning, so in honor of Halloween, they all got spray painted hair and faces painted like Tigers. The kids have really improved since the first game. Not many goals were scored....but everyone participated and there were very few tears. So, I'd call that a successful game!!
The kids get patches to add to their jerseys after each game. Sophia got a star badge for being a super star player. Way to go!!! She hustled and ran for most of the game!!

His first report card....

It was report card day today...the first of many!! Jake got a great report especially in the 'comments' section. My favorite line is "With diligence I believe he will have a great year in Kindergarten." Hmmm...I think that means we need to keep on him about both behavior and work!!

In honor of the big day we celebrated with cake. It's good to start a tradition of cake on report card days. I'm so proud of our little man. He's done SO well during these first 9 weeks of Kinder. I know that this is just the first of many great report cards to come!!

Say what???

Just had to post these 2 comments from Sophia...they're so funny that I must remember them!!

Yesterday Sophia asked for a kleenex. When I handed her one she said "Finola used me as a kleenex when she wiped her snot on my leotard. I didn't like that." Can't blame her for not liking it!!!!! Finola is a girl in her class. We hear all kinds of stories about Finola!!

Then..a little later (out of the blue) Sophia said "Elin always does dance party and I don't like that. It gives me a headache." Huh????? Elin is in her ballet class at school. Who knows what dance party is!!!

It's so interesting to get a glimpse into her head sometimes!!!!!!!

Ranch fun...

We were at the ranch this weekend and there has been a ton of rain in the past month. I think more than 20 inches!! So, everything is very green and there's lots of water around. We went down to the river where the water is coming off the bluff and is just beautiful!! 2 waterfalls!! We tried to take some cousin pictures, which was hard to do. But, I did get some individual pictures of the kids while they were playing.
I thought this was a cute one of Grammy and Sophia.
Chaos!!! Maybe Mary got a better one of all 4 kids!!
I wish this one of Jake wasn't a little blurry!
One of the waterfalls off the bluff.
SO sweet!!! Sophia is really good with Joshua most of the time!!!

Sic Em' Bears

This weekend was Baylor Homecoming and it has been 11 years since I've been back for Homecoming. WOW....I feel old!!!!!!!!!! Mary had talked about how much fun Grant had at the parade last year, so I decided to take Jake and Sophia. It was a chilly morning, and an early morning since we had to leave the ranch just before 7am to get there (and stop for donuts on the way!!). We took Dolores with us since she is always up for a good time.

Front row seats, bags for candy, lots of entertainment...what more could you ask for? Almost 2 hours of fun!!<

Happy Halloween...

Captain Hook, Tinkerbell and Peter Pan hope you have a very Happy Halloween!!
We had the annual Reformation Fest at church last night. The kids got all dressed up for the fun. I snapped a few pictures right before we went in...and good thing I did because they stayed totally dressed up for about 10 min. Before I knew it we had a boy in black pants and a white shirt, a boy in green and Tinkerbell (with no wings). But, they were still very cute!!!!

Dinosaur Train....

For those of you that haven't discovered it already, I highly recommend a new show on PBS called Dinosaur Train. Jake and Sophia LOVE it. They would watch as many episodes as I would let them.

If you let your child watch it, you might have the following conversation:

Me: "Sophia...can you go find Joshua's cup for me?"
Sophia...a few minutes later...."Here you go. I found it in the early Cretaceous time period."

Hmmm....Dinosaur Train is not only entertaining..but very educational!!!!

Dancing in the rain

Turns out that Joshua is a big fan of being in the rain. When it started to pour and the kids were outside, he slowly ventured out from under the patio. He seemed fine with the rain. At first I thought maybe he just didn't notice it. Wrong!!!!!!!!! Fast forward a little bit and this is what happened around dinner. Mike was outside grilling and let the kids have full run in the rain!
Jake was so excited he was just a blur in most of the pictures. I love Joshua's face. Wonder what he's thinking??
This was taken a little earlier before the rain really started coming down.
And then...all good times must come to an end. This is the scene when we told him it was time to come inside.
In fact he was so mad that he sat down and threw a little fit!!

Honesty at its best....

Tonight Jake took a bath unsupervised. When I went to clean up the bathroom I saw the bottle of shampoo on the floor...empty...when it was at least 3/4 full before Jake took his bath. So I asked him "did you use all the shampoo." "Yes I did." "Seriously....why???" Here's the most honest answer I've heard in awhile...."I like to make beards."

Well...I guess when you're 6 that's a good reason to dump the whole bottle into the tub at once!! Good thing it was Suave and only cost $1.50!!!

You've Been Boooo-d

I saw this idea on a blog and decided to try it. www.skiptomylou.org/2007/10/02/boo

I'm going to try to sneak it into Sophia's school tomorrow and hang it on her classroom door. Hopefully the teachers will think it's a fun little deal to try to pass it on to the next teacher without being seen. And...who doesn't love some candy?? I'm hoping Sophia won't go "Hey...my Mommy made that." But, she probably will!!

Our little Peter Pan...

I should probably wait until I get a picture of all 3 dressed up....but here is Joshua dressed up as Peter Pan. He wore the hat for about 5 seconds and then threw it on the ground.
I made the costume today and I think it turned out SO cute. We're going to have the cutest trio on the block!! Captain Hook, Tinkerbell and Peter Pan!

Two firsts...

1. Today was a big day and I have no pictures of it...yet. Jake went on his first field trip. I think the most exciting thing was riding the bus!! All the kindergarten classes went to the Magik Children's Theatre to see Miss Nelson is Missing. They have a great playground right next door, so the kids ate lunch, played and then went inside for the show. Miss Viola Swamp (for those of you who know the story) was a little scary!!! I was waiting for the little girl next to me to cry. But, I think all the kids had a great time and I know they were all very tired from all the excitement.

2. For those of you that have more than one kiddo....this is for you. I never thought about this happening. The boys had taken their bath together and were dressed in jammies. Sophia was in the tub. I was sitting on the edge (thank goodness). Joshua came in and the next thing I knew, he had fallen head first into the tub!! My back was towards him so I didn't really know what he was doing. But, he was in the tub, jammies and all!! We usually leave the older kid (who is taking a bath alone) alone in the bathroom for most of the time. Thank goodness I was in there tonight. I know Sophia would have yelled and we would have come running...but still. It's amazing how fast things can happen!!!!

Seriously...what took me so long to get this???

Four words for you: LOVE the baby gate !!!!!!!! What took me so long to get one??? Seriously!!! I can move it between the hallway and the kitchen. Joshua hates it but MAN is it nice to have!!!

What's Outside My Window....

Mary had a post on her blog awhile back about what was outside her window. So, here's my response:
The kids were playing outside while Mike was in the garage. I was inside cleaning up the kitchen. Not the best picture...but I love how all 3 are so happy. Joshua was waving his little hands all around because he was so excited about something one of the big kids was doing. It was pretty cute!
Though the kids drive me totally crazy and I feel SO tired so much of the time, I realize I am so blessed to be thier mommy. And so blessed to have such a wonderful husband that works so hard so that I'm able to be at home with them!!

Super cute...if I do say so myself!!

I found a cute Halloween shirt for Sophia. I'm still looking for one for the boys. Boy shirts just aren't as cute!!

I wanted some pants to go with the shirt so I took an old pair of black leggings and added these ruffled cuffs on them. I love the way they turned out!! I want to make lots of pants like this!

Rain and cooler weather....

This is how Sophia went off to school this morning (in the pouring rain)....notice the cowboy boots.
And how Joshua felt about wearing a coat. Lucky for him that wearing a coat isn't usually a necessity in San Antonio!

A succesful afternoon and evening with only one "say what????"

I consider this a successful afternoon and evening:

No major tears or fits at the doctor's office for flu shots. Joshua cried (of course). Sophia got the flu mist. Jake handled his shot with no tears or tantrums. I was proud!

On the way home I had a "say what" moment. We were listening to "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" and Sophia said "Are they talking about Handy Manny or God?" HUH???? Seriously??? And I think she was serious. She sounded serious!!!

Snow White was a big hit tonight. They sat in the Disney trance and didn't move!

It's 7:45 and all 3 kids are in bed sleeping.

I made 3 "leashes" for Joshua's sippy cup, blankie and paci tonight. I will outsmart him if it's the last thing I do!! No more throwing things overboard out of the stroller as we walk to and from school each day. I'm tired of people running up behind us going "you dropped this." That problem is solved now!!! I just need to make one more for his snack cup and then everything he usually has in the stroller with him will be locked down. Maybe tomorrow I'll take a picture.

I'm watching Oprah right now which today was all about hoarding. Makes me feel SO much more normal!!!

So...all in all this has been a pretty decent day!!!!

One of my favorite sights to see...

Nothing beats walking into a room and seeing a little one sleeping like this. It's just so darn cute!!!!

A future climber??

This is what Joshua decided to do this morning. Great idea!! Small person (somewhat unstable on his feet still) climbing onto a toy with wheels while standing in front of all our TV electronics which are sitting on brick. And what do I do?? Grab the camera!! And then I helped him down...of course!!

Admit it...you want to come play at our house...it's fun!

Doesn't this look like so much fun?? No clue what they are doing...but it looks like everyone is having a great time!! And when you get tired...just lay down wherever you want to. Doesn't matter if it's the floor, inside of the dishwasher, dirty mat by the door! Just lay down and rest when you feel the need!!!
