Cousin Camp planning was a little last minute this year. However...we managed to put together a good plan for 3 days of fun and the campers were SO excited!!! We even had official Cousin Camp 2013 shirts this year!!!
We started off with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Cousin Camp Pledge (new this year!!) and our camp song "You Can't Ride in My Little Red Wagon". Ask a camper...they will sing it for you!!
The first night we had an outdoor movie. We would have waited until it was really dark...but that would have been starting the movie wwwwaaaaayyyy too late!!!
The next morning we made it our mission to finish the 1000 piece puzzle that had been started months ago. We were all on a roll and determined to finish!!!
999 pieces later....we were done!!!!! Hooray!! Where was #1000....who knows????
And....after dropping Lucy at school, the big kids headed to Hawaiian Falls!!! It was a great day to go because it wasn't too crowded and it was cloudy. The kids loved it!! Joshua wants to go back when he is tall enough to ride more slides. :)
Nothing like a little rainstorm to bring some added fun to Cousin Camp!!!!
This is what the kids looked like every morning...on their Kindles!!!
We had our meltdowns....
But also lots of smiles!!!
Big adventure on Saturday morning when we went crawdad fishing!! This guy was waiting for us in the bathtub!!!!
Which meant I needed to try to attack it with a stick!! We managed to chase him out of the bathtub, but I'm not sure he went too far!
Gramma gave us the hint of using bacon to catch crawdads...and man did it work!!!! We caught about 17 total!!! It was so much fun.
And you have to look stylish while catching crawdads!!!
A quiet painting activity....
We went to the lake...which was SO low. It looked so different from last year!
And we taught the campers how to play Marco Polo!
Second Annual Cousin Camp Olympics....I will tell the truth...it was a bit rough. There was a moment when Mary and I really thought about throwing in the towel. The kids were not the best sports....
Our final activity was the scavenger hunt....
Moustaches were one of the prizes...I love this picture!!
We ended the Scavenger Hunt with an egg hunt at DD's house. The kids loved it!!
And we got this great picture of Dolores with all the kids!!!
This was one of the more challenging Cousin Camps. I'm not sure why. There was a lot of fighting and grumpy attitudes. HOWEVER...it was all worth it. I love the memories the kids are making and how much fun they have (most of the time) being with each other. I love that Mary and I carve out 3 or 4 days each summer to spend time with each other...and that's what Cousin Camp is all about!!!
